Oviedo, Spain, January 29, 2021.
Dear Colleagues
I am writing on behalf of the UEMS Renal Section, to reassure you that plans to deliver the European Specialty Examination in Nephrology (ESENeph) on the 17 February 2021 are still very much in place. You may be aware that recent closures of centres in a number of UEMS Member States has unfortunately affected some candidates due to sit the examination. However, this does not necessarily mean that the affected candidates will not have an opportunity to sit the examination in 2021. There are two key contingency actions we are taking to ensure as many candidates as possible will get to sit:
Our delivery providers Pearson Vue are sourcing alternative venues for candidates to sit the examination on the 17 February 2021. Pearson is in the process of contacting candidates to provide this option.
Candidates for whom it has not been possible to identify an alternative venue will be given the opportunity to sit the examination on a different date later in the year to be confirmed shortly on the MRCP(UK) website. Furthermore, any candidate who has already registered for the ESENeph but is now unable to sit on the 17 February for whatever reason, for example due to clinical pressures at their hospital or need to isolate, will be able to sit on this alternative ‘contingency’ date.
We hope this is useful information for you and thanks for bearing with us during this difficult time. Please do disseminate this information to any candidate or colleague in your home country who has expressed concern regarding the continued delivery of the ESENeph in 2021.
Yours Sincerely
Prof Jorge B Cannata-Andia
Chair of the UEMS Renal Section
